The blacksmith trade in the Banshu region in the Hyogo prefecture began with forging Katana swords around 400 years ago when Hideyoshi Toyotomi attacked Miki castle. He commissioned many blacksmiths in the Banshu region to produce his swords, and Banshu Hamono is one of the few blacksmiths that still lives on.
